Responsible innovation for our stakeholders
The safety of our products – whether in the area of agrochemicals, public hygiene or plant biotechnology – is a top priority.
Bayer CropScience products are subjected to extensive and strident tests, which are regulated by state authorities. The tests are a collaborative, interactive effort involving numerous groups of experts. Our toxicologists, for instance, evaluate the properties of both the active ingredient and the formulated product and our residue chemists study how the product is metabolized within the soil and plant. Many more specialists perform numerous safety checks before a product goes to market.
Of course, our commitment to safety equally applies to new technologies, such as plant biotechnology. While we acknowledge public concern about genetically modified organisms (GMOs), the scientific consensus today says “GMOs are safe.”
However, before any GMO can be put on the market anywhere in the world, it must pass an approval system that thoroughly assesses its safety for humans, animals and the environment.
For sure, one of the big challenges we face as we move ahead in our efforts to develop novel products and cutting-edge technologies is making people understand they are useful and safe. Bayer CropScience therefore actively seeks the dialogue with its stakeholders.
