Film coatings
Innovative film coatings developed by Bayer CropScience Cérès are complex products intended to be applied in combination with insecticidal and/or fungicidal seed treatment and offer maximum compatibility. If applied at the correct use rate our film coatings improve the application quality by reducing abrasion, dust formation and active ingredient losses during application, packaging and sowing. The distribution of the seed treatment product on the seed is improved, providing better protection of the seeds while maintaining high seed flowability/sowability. Since the film coating is just a very thin film layer, neither the size, the shape nor the weight of the seeds are modified.
As well as products ensuring precision application of insecticidal and fungicidal seed treatments for almost all field crops and vegetables, we offer specialized products such as film coatings to support the neutralization of cotton seeds after processing, film coatings containing micronutrients, or specific ingredients that improve the germination of seeds and the emergence of vigorous, healthy plants. For legume seeds we offer film coatings that prolong the survival of Rhizobium bacteria.

Seed Pelleting
Bayer CropScience Cérès is an expert in seed pelleting for sugar beet seeds, vegetable seeds and tobacco seeds. The pelleting processes are designed to make seeds uniform in size, shape and/or weight so that they can be precision-sown with modern sowing machinery. The materials used in our pelleting processes are selected in such a way that they build a robust pellet while water uptake by the seed, germination and field emergence are not affected at all. The insecticidal seed treatment is applied in a second step in combination with an appropriate film coating in order minimize abrasion and dust formation and to achieve unhampered seed flowability during the seed treatment.
Regardless of the seed size and the quantity, Bayer CropScience Cérès offers a professional and economical solution because our aim is to produce absolutely homogeneous and precise seed pellets that allow sowing with maximum accuracy, resulting in an optimal crop stand and the best yield for the farmer.

Bayer CropScience Cérès offers the latest technologies and internationally approved methods in the area of seed germination, plant emergence and vigor as well as all other kinds of plant physiology tests.
We have developed test methods to analyze seed treatment quality by measuring the active ingredient loading on individual seeds (dosing) and the distribution of the film coating on the seeds. Flowability and abrasion tests as well as methods to evaluate the dust formation of treated seeds are established on a laboratory level but also under conditions reflecting practical circumstances at farm level.
Our research aims to optimize the seed germination process. We develop priming technologies for several crops aimed at accelerating germination and achieving more uniform emergence of crops.
