Amit Sharma, Bayer’s food-chain manager for India, highlighted how Bayer had helped Kay Bee Export to develop farmer training programs to raise farmers’ awareness of quality issues: “Integrated pest and disease management and the safe handling of crop protection products are a vital part of the package, as was a passport tool developed by Bayer to document on-farm activities,” he said.
“The results so far have been impressive,” emphasized Kaushal Khakhar, CEO of food chain partner Kay Bee “Significantly higher yields and improvements in quality mean higher net incomes for the farmers and more high-quality okra for Kay Bee Export to sell in our export markets.”
Bayer CropScience developed the food chain partnership business model to help farmers all over the world to produce high-quality produce in a sustainable manner and to successfully network with participating players in the food chain. |
