The BioScience business unit of Bayer CropScience is a seed and trait business that uses modern plant breeding techniques including plant biotechnology to improve the quality of crops and vegetables. Together with Crop Protection, BioScience offers an integrated portfolio of high quality seeds, trait technologies and high performance crop protection products with tailored service and expert advice.
Agricultural Seeds and Traits - holding a strong competitive position in high value markets
In our Business Unit BioScience we want to grow in our core crops canola, cotton, rice and vegetables. We are expanding the business to soy and wheat and are exploring solutions for corn and sugarcane as well.

We market 2,500 vegetable varieties covering 28 vegetable crops around the globe to professional growers, plant propagators, seed dealers as well as the fresh produce and food processing industries. Our main crops include carrot, onion, tomato, cucumber, leek and melon. » more | |||

| In partnership with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization in Australia (CSIRO), we are developing a world-class research platform in cereals with a focus on improved yields, enhanced stress tolerance and better nutrient uptake. | Bayer CropScience has over 30 years experience in delivering crop protection solutions in sugarcane. Drawing on this strength, we are targeting substantial productivity increases in ethanol production through plant biotechnology. We are well advanced in our research program seeking solutions to increase sugarcane yields. | |||
